The Castle Donington Football Academy opened on the 5th August 2015. It came into existence off the back of the FA mentoring programme which 4 coaches club taken part of that year.
In order to ensure the club made the most of the opportunity it was agreed that setting up a grassroots football academy for our U7 to U10 was key to the long term strategic development of the club.
In September 2014, Simon Costigan, Adrian Boyd, Aaron Grimshaw & Mark Henderson along with Pete Bell, who was the FA Coach Mentor we worked with on the FA Mentor Programme, started to develop the concept of the Academy.
The aims of the Academy are to provide an environment where our coaches and players can be the best they can be, this is being achieved through a specific coaching manual that has been developed to deliver a consistent coaching experience for all players. A scheme of work has been devised to ensure all facets of the game are covered from passing to shooting and from defending to attacking.
We currently have 70 children training in our Academy from 6pm to 7.30pm in the winter months and from 6pm to 8pm in the spring and summer months. We commit to providing an opportunity for all children to play football irrespective of ability. It is our belief that football can provide more than just
We are proud of what we have achieved and were delighted that Mike Whitlow, Head of Youth Football at Burton Albion FC agreed to officially open our Academy at the beginning of September. One of our long term ambitions is to develop a link with one of the professional clubs in the East Midlands.
So come and join us and experience a coaching and playing environment you are unlikely to find anywhere else.
